IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene Laray
Roberts Belnap
March 22, 1940 – March 18, 2021
Darlene LaRay Roberts Belnap (80) passed away March 18, 2021 in St. George, Utah from incidents associated with aging. She was born March 22, 1940 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Alpha Jaques and Mildred (Brown) Roberts. Darlene was married to Burke O. Belnap in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple on August 17, 1962.
Darlene graduated from Snake River High School in South Eastern Idaho and then attended and received her Associates Degree from Ricks College. She taught elementary school in Shelley, Idaho and later in Riverside, Idaho. She became an accomplished singer known for her beautiful soprano voice. Her musical offerings were enjoyed by many in various ward and funeral events. She performed in a select Idaho State University women's music trio and was noted for her soloist performances in the Messiah and for a lead in a petite opera.
She and her husband have resided in St. George since 1968, where they raised five children. She took great pride in the activities of her family. She loved watching her children participate in basketball, dance, drama and the successes they have had in their chosen fields.
She was an avid Jazz fan, loved reading and listening to classical music. She was a caring home maker who enjoyed cooking good food and keeping her house clean and inviting.
She had a special love for children. She kept a small library of children books and toys for grandchildren to enjoy when they would come to visit. She along with close friend Valorie Snow successfully ran the Wel-Tot Pre-school for fifteen years out of her home.
She was gracious and generous with others. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held callings as Primary President, Relief Society President and as an ordinance worker in the temple. She also served a mission with her husband in Antigua.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Burke; son, Brock (Chantie) of St. George; daughter, Bronwyn (Bryan) Mount of St. George; son, Rhett (Stephanie) of Farmington, Utah; son, Nicholas (Feixia) of Washington, Utah; and daughter, Summer (Joel) Robertson of St. George; and fifteen grandchildren. Living siblings include Gordon (Irma) Roberts of Rigby, Idaho; Bing (Diane) Roberts of Rigby, Idaho; Bruce Roberts of Rexburg, Idaho; Charles Roberts of Rigby, Idaho; and Jill Roberts of Salt Lake City, Utah.
