St. George, UT- David Bruce Anderson, 84, passed away March 1, 2011 in St. George, UT. He was born November 14, 1926 in Santa Ana, CA to David McCulloch Anderson and Bertha (Jackie) Elizabeth Schwarzkopf. He married Virginia Ann Grodahl in Las Vegas, NV on January 31, 1959.

David was raised in Southern California and attended Stanford University where he earned his BA Degree in Speech/Journalism and The University of Southern California where he earned his MS Degree in Education. He also attended Brown Military Academy.

David loved his country and served it well with pride, courage and integrity. He was in the U.S. Navy in WWII & with the U.S. Army Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War where he received the Air Medal. In 1953 he was appointed Reserve Commissioned Officer grade of 1 ^st Lieutenant. He was a Green Beret with the 12 ^th Special Forces Group Airborne, a Master Parachutist; and he was with the Military Intelligence Unit from 1961 to 1981 where he received the Meritorius Award and earned the rank of Captain.

David worked in the Los Angeles City School System from 1957 to 1981 as a Special Education Teacher . He had a keen sense of relating to children with learning problems. He enjoyed oil painting, hiking, gardening, snow skiing and surfing. He was very knowledgeable in ancient world history and loved to share that knowledge with others. David was a loyal husband, father and Best Friend. He was truly the Best of the Best.

David is survived by his wife, Virginia of Hurricane, UT; Sons: Douglas Mark Swanson of Hurricane, UT and Raymond Lynn (Jackie) Swanson of Santa Rosa, CA; Grandson, David Edward Swanson of Santa Rosa, CA; and Sister, Jean Sharke of Bullhead City, AZ.
