Obituary

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - David Kendall Carson passed away November 13, 2010. He was born to Carl and Leah Carson January 17, 1930 in Riverside, CA. He graduated from Poly High School in 1948 and married Dorothy Chandler January 14, 1951. They had two children, Carl and Colleen, both deceased. David and Dorothy raised their grandson, Michael Atencio. David served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean Conflict with the 224th Infantry. He returned to Riverside, CA and worked for Alumax, retiring in 1986 as Supervisor of Shipping. After retiring, David and Dorothy with their grandson Michael, moved to Hurricane, Utah where they opened a ceramic business. They moved to St. George in 1995 so that Dorothy could play with the Southwest Symphony. Dorothy passed away in April of 1999. On November 21, 1999, David married Beverly Davis. David was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various positions throughout his life. He was a very kind and gentle person, meticulous in all he did. He loved boating on Lake Mead with family and friends and building remote control airplanes. He loved animals of all kinds and even raised bees at one time. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his grandchildren: Michael (Joleen) Atencio, Cheryl, James, Chris and Jeff Carson; and three great-grandchildren: St. John, Courtney and Tayven Atencio; a brother, Bob Carson in Fort Myers, FL and a sister, Carla Lordan in Riverside, CA. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy and his two children, Carl and Colleen. The family would like to extend a thank you to Beehive Homes for taking such good care of Dave for the past two years and to Southern Utah Hospice who also contributed to his well being for the past several months. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS 16th Ward Chapel, 700 South 600 East, St. George, Utah. Visitation will be held Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
