Obituary

St. George, Utah - DeAnna Poppleton Murray Coombs, 76, beloved mother, sister, aunt and spouse, died peacefully at her home in St. George, UT, Sunday December 4, 2016, following a valiant fight with cancer. Husband, William LaClede (married October 2, 1978 and solemnized November 20, 2014 at the St. George L.D.S. Temple) and daughter, Meikaella Dee, preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother Arlin (Joyce) of Wellsville, a sister Sandra (Carl) of Roy, and a brother Bruce (Leona) of Centerville.
She was born October 26, 1940 in Logan, Cache, Utah, the daughter of Preston Bailey Murray and Flora Valene Squires Poppleton. DeAnna attended elementary, middle and high schools in Cache Valley where she graduated from South Cache High School and Seminary. Having been influenced by her mother, a nurse, she gained an early interest in nursing. She attended Utah State University, Weber State University (an Associate Degree), El Camino College, University of Utah (a BSN degree, Cum Laude), Idaho State University and Brigham Young University (an MSN degree, Cum Laude) where she was Valedictorian and gave the Valedictory address at graduation.
Her work experience included medical/surgical, operating room, post-recovery, pediatric including pediatric intensive care, psychiatric, intensive care, trauma, industrial, emergency, and administrative capacities. She worked in various states and at different hospitals, most recently at Mesa View Regional Hospital, Mesquite, NV. She taught classes in nursing for Westminster College, Weber State University, Mohave College and served as adjunct faculty for UNLV. She said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed the nursing profession, experienced tremendous growth in it, and hope I can always contribute and be of service to others."
Mrs. Murray was active in the L.D.S. Church as a coach and teacher in Young Women, and a teacher in Relief Society. She served as a voluntary full-time Medical Health Missionary in South Dakota (1972-74). DeAnna took pleasure in life and was a person who liked people. Her good life positively influenced many others. She liked humor and enjoyed the arts, music, plays, symphony, traveling, reading, outdoor activities and peaceful, quite times at home. She "loved southern Utah and didn't want to live anywhere else." Now she has gone on to peaceful rest and service in a beautiful place.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 12 noon, at the L.D.S. Green Valley 4th Ward, 125 N. Valley View Drive, St. George, UT. Visitors will be received starting at 11 am. A second memorial service will be held Monday, December 19, 2016, 12 noon, at the L.D.S. Chapel, 195 South Center St., Wellsville, UT. Visitors will be received starting at 11 am. Interment at Wellsville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made for charity to Zion's Bank, STG, UT, in her behalf.
