Obituary

Washington, Utah – Debra "Dee" Lynn Smith, 70, went home to her Heavenly Father after a long, hard battle with cancer on Friday, March 24, 2023, at St. George Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Dee was born on September 22, 1952, in Cottonwood, Arizona to Fearl William Lynn and Maxine Cameron Lynn of Flagstaff, Arizona. She married William "Bill" Jospeh Smith in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 31, 1970.

Dee was raised in Arizona and Nevada. After attending nursing school in Las Vegas, she became a nurse. Later, because of her love for plants and flowers, she decided to attend floral school and became a floral designer. She had a green thumb and loved to plant all kinds of plants, flowers, and vegetables. She had a big heart and would always help others. Her husband, Bill, was in the Army Special Forces so they traveled to many different states and a few times outside the country to Panama.

Family was very important to Dee, and she was her happiest whenever she got to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook. Her collection of recipes and cookbooks was enormous. She also loved animals and had a soft spot for elephants, they were her favorite. Most of all she was a wonderful aunt, mother, friend, mentor, role model, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Dee is survived by her children: Michelle (Steven) Foremaster of Washington, Angela (Randy) Hafen of Washington, Richard (Whendi) Smith of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Brian (Grace) Smith of Las Vegas; grandchildren: Jakob, Samantha (Cash), Victoria (Levi), Wyatt, Taelor (Chris), Sunnie, Jared (Kali), Sidnie, Liam, and Blues; great-grandchildren: Oliver, Lincoln, Presley, and Payson; and her sister, Carol Cannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maxine Lynn; husband, William Smith; brother, Richard Lynn; sister, DeAnn Gubler; and her beloved parrot of 40 years, Baby.

The family wishes to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses and Medical Staff that took such great care in helping provide treatments and in making her time left more comfortable.

Interment will be held at a later date in the Panguitch City Cemetery, Panguitch, Utah.
