St. George, Utah – Dennis LeRoy Evans passed away at Dixie Regional Hospital on December 13, 2016, as a result of aspiration pneumonia following a hip revision surgery.  He was 70 years old.  Dennis was born in San Bernardino, California on November 8, 1946.  His parents were Betty Violet Jones Evans and Oscar Leroy Evans.

Dennis graduated from Colton High School and California State University in San Bernardino, California.

Dennis worked as a detective for the San Bernardino City Police for 30 years and was married to Susan Beck Evans, a middle-school principal in that city, whom he met while investigating a gang murder of one of her students. After this propitious beginning, they got married, finished up their careers, retired to St. George, and lived a wonderful life.

Dennis pursued his interest in genealogy, bowling and travel while retired. He was an honest man with the highest integrity and was respected by all who know him.

Dennis has two children: David Scott and Elisabeth Evans Partin.  Susan's children are Julie Beck Allen and Joseph Perry Beck.  Together they had eight grandchildren.

Dennis will be interred at Riverside National Cemetery on January 9, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.
