Obituary

St. George, Utah - Dessie Reber McAllister, our sweet, loving, beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, passed away March 23, 2011 at her home in St George at the age of 93. She lived a long a fulfilling life. She was the eighth child born to Edwin and Ella Jones, July 31, 1917, in Gunlock, Utah. She married Garth Jones in 1942. They later divorced but had one child, Edwin. She then married Rumell Louis Reber in the St. George LDS Temple. They had five children: Dan, Veva, Rita and twins Keith and Kelly. Dessie graduated from Dixie College and BYU She taught school, a total of 31 years in Rockville, Enterprise, Gunlock, Mesquite, Overton, Logandale and Littlefield, AZ. Dessie and Rumell raised their family in Littlefield, AZ. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. After her retirement, she served an LDS Mission in West Virginia. She married Woodrow Staheli in 1998. Then she married Devere McCallister in 2003. Dessie was best known for her sense of humor and loving disposition. She gave loving care to those she loved. She is survived by her children: Edwin Phil (Soon Hwa), Dan Rumell (Christine), Veva Lu (Mike), Rita Kay, twins Keith Ray (Stephanie) and Kelly Jay (Janice); 25 grandchildren; and 43 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, husbands and granddaughters: Danna Reber, Tiffany Reber, and Reah Reber. Funeral Services will be held Monday March 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St George 3rd Ward Chapel, 200 West 500 North. Friends may call Sunday, March 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, and also Monday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to services at the Chapel. Interment will be take place at 2:30 pm (Utah time) at the Littlefield Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
