Obituary

St. George, UT - Dolores Marie Ross Brinkerhoff, 78, was received into heavens arms June 29, 2009. Born to Charles Ludwig Ross and Sarah Jane Bellamy Ross on November 18, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the youngest of 4 children, the cherished Dolly to her loving parents and three protective brothers. Dolores was blessed with tremendous talents. Her knitting, crocheting, needle work, quilts, and cake decorating skills were among many gifts she shared with others. She played the piano and had a beautiful voice that touched everyone who had the privilege to hear. She loved and recognized the beauty in her life, and her homemaking skills created a lovely, warm environment. Beautiful Dolores graduated from Granite High School in 1948, and four years later on May 9, 1952, married the man of her dreams, George Brinkerhoff. Together they made their home in Salt Lake City and began a long and happy life together. Three children were born to them: Robert C. Brinkerhoff (Kim), Linda Marie Brinkerhoff Christensen (Alan-deceased) and Bonnie Lee Brinkerhoff Hobson (Bill). They sealed their family together for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Dolores served in her church and especially loved her years working in the Jordan River Temple. She loved her associations with those she served with and appreciated the bond she shared with them. She also enjoyed many close relationships with special friends who made her life rich and joyous. She recently reminisced about the memories she made with them and the love and service they have given during her health challenges. She leaves behind a grieving husband who has lovingly cared for her fifty-seven years. His never-ending devotion to her, especially in the past three years of declining health, has been a tremendous testimony of eternal love. Ill Be Loving You Always was their love song, and although they are separated for this short time, always remains the sacred word in their love story. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Charles Ross and Robert Ross. She is survived by her husband and eternal companion, George Brinkerhoff; brother, Raymond Ross; three children, fifteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Metcalf Pine View Mortuary at 566 North Mall Drive on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary, prior to services. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery on Dixie Drive in St. George under the direction Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
