St. George, Utah - Donald B. Garrick returned to our Loving Heavenly Father, at the age of 92. Don passed away at his home in St. George, Utah February 23, 2012. He was born May 5 1919 in Bountiful, Utah to William Pinney and Maude Elosia Burningham Garrick. He married Marie Lund on the 4th of July 1947 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, September 1967. Don was raised and educated in Salt Lake City and served an LDS mission in South Africa in 1938. Upon his return in 1941, he joined the Army Air Corps and served in World War II. After five years of service, Don returned home and attended the University of Utah, majoring in architecture. He was a successful architect and building contractor in Utah and Southern California. He was gifted in many areas, including a talent for acting in the theater. He loved to share his knowledge and entertain all. Don was an experienced world traveler, and enjoyed the beauty of nature. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marie; son, Don (Carlene); daughters: Jan (Darrel) Stucki and Julie (Jack) Heppler; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Garrick Gillespie, all of St. George. Don leaves behind a great legacy of 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Red Cliffs LDS 9th Ward Chapel, 1285 North Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening, March 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday, prior to services, from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the Chapel.
