IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Kent
Nicklas Sr.
September 24, 1934 – February 28, 2025
Donald "Kent" Nicklas Sr. passed away on the afternoon of February 28, 2025, at his home in Hurricane, Utah at the age of 90.
He was born in Michigan City, Indiana on September 24, 1934. His family later moved to Pueblo, Colorado where he went to High School and met his Wife, Myra. They were married on Sept 11th, 1955.
Kent was in the US Navy for 20 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He was a proud veteran. He was stationed in many states, Washington, Florida, and Hawaii, but San Diego became his home where he and his wife raised their three children.
His next adventure was moving to Beryl, Utah where he and his wife lived for 20 years. During that time, he was a volunteer for the Volunteer Fire Department and active in the Lions Club in Beryl. He was also active in the Masons in Cedar City.
Wanting to move closer to town, they made their home in Hurricane, UT.
His love for life included square dancing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Shepard of the Hills Methodist Church in St. George where he enjoyed volunteering wherever needed.
Every year you could find him and his wife at the Senior Games in St George either Square Dancing or volunteering.
Kent left a lasting impression on many that he met with his kindness, wisdom and patience.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Advanced Health Hospice for the loving care and support they provided to Kent in his final days.
Kent will be missed by his wife of 69 years, Myra; his son, Don; his daughter, Cindy; his brother, Bruce; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cathie Harrison; his sister, Nancy Patterson; and his parents, Arndt and Elnor Nicklas.
Memorial Services will be held on March 22, 2025, at 1p.m. at the Shepard of the Hills Methodist Church located at 920 West Tonaquint Drive, St. George, UT.
