Donna Chytraus Dalebout, age 91, of Provo, Utah, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Donna was born on July 27, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lennard and Tess Chytraus. She was the youngest of three children and enjoyed a close-knit family throughout her life.
Donna graduated from East High School in 1953 and went on to attend Utah State University, where she studied accounting. Following her time at Utah State, she moved to California and built a successful career in accounting and secretarial work. She had a lifelong love of the outdoors and enjoyed swimming, boating, skiing, golfing, and gardening. She took tremendous pride in her home and yard, carefully tending her flowers and landscaping. Her dedication was recognized when she received an award from the city for maintaining one of the most beautiful front yards in her neighborhood.
Donna was also an exceptional cook whose family looked forward to every gathering around her table. Her potato salad, fruit salad, Little Smokies, meatballs, sweet potato pie, stuffing, and especially her famous chocolate chip cookies became family favorites. Whether it was a holiday celebration or a simple family get-together, Donna's delicious meals and warm hospitality made every occasion special and created memories that will be cherished for generations.
In February 1978, Donna married the love of her life, Paul Dalebout. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service. Donna was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings and leadership positions throughout the years. She and Paul were especially grateful for the opportunity to serve as missionaries at Courtyard at Jamestown Assisted Living Center in Provo, where they served for four years.
Donna and Paul spent most of their years together in the Provo area. They enjoyed simple pleasures and favorite local traditions, including frequent trips to Brick Oven and Ripples. Through Paul's enthusiasm, Donna became an avid BYU sports fan. Together they cheered on BYU baseball, basketball, and especially football, creating many treasured memories. They also shared a love of golf and spent countless happy hours on the golf course together.
Donna loved her country and was deeply patriotic. She held a sincere admiration for the United States and always hoped for its continued strength and success. Those who knew her will remember her unwavering faith, loyalty to family, love of community, and warm devotion to those around her.
Donna shared a special bond with her great-niece, Crystal, throughout her life. Lovingly referring to her as her Granddaughter. As Donna needed more support herself, she chose to move closer to Crystal and Jordan and their four boys, Asher, Keller, Renner and Costner. She loved attending and hearing about the boys’ sports and activities and proudly shared their accomplishments with friends and nearly anyone who would listen. They were a tremendous source of pride and happiness for her, the years they shared together created memories Crystal and the boys will treasure forever. She enjoyed living in Layton with all her close friends and ward members. As well as getting to know everyone in their new home together in St. George.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Carie Dalebout; granddaughter, Dana Nolton (Greg) Roman; great-grandson, Lucas Berrera; nieces Christy Barber (Crystal & Jordan), Susan Barber, Janice Barber (Dustin & Angie, Brad and Trish, Neil and Rachel), Elizabeth (Tad) Nielson; nephew Steve (Sandy) Chytraus;
