Obituary

St. George, Utah – Doris Helen Browning was born to Ralph and Lois Browning on July 19, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the third of four children: older brother and sister, Edgar and Shirley; and younger brother, Howard.

Her father was a local district pastor in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Growing up in a minister's home, she moved often. Cities she called home include several cities in Oklahoma, Montana and Kansas. She began grade school in Billings, Montana and attended grade school in several Kansas towns. She completed three years of high school at Enterprise Academy before deciding to transfer to Union College Academy in Lincoln, Nebraska, so she could take some additional classes at Union College during her senior year.

During the summer between her junior and senior year, she returned home to attend the Kansas Conference Camp Meeting. That weekend she was introduced to Leon Sanders, the new Conference President's son, who had just graduated from Ozark Academy in Gentry, Arkansas and was planning to attend Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska that fall. Leon asked Doris to be his date to the first banquet at college. The next spring on Sadie Hawkins Day, Doris returned the favor and asked Leon to a sponsored outing. The rest is history. They married on January 31, 1957.

The couple had three children: son, Ronald "Cameron"; and daughters, Cheryl LeAnn Beauchamp and Teresa Lynn Hochstedler. Doris focused on raising the children until they were in school, which kept her very busy during her early married life. She then returned to school and completed her bachelor arts degree in management from Redlands University in 1981, went on to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and ran her own Public Accounting firm.

She was deeply religious as well as creative. Her hobbies included traveling with Leon, crafting, artistic hand- quilting, reading, creative writing, and volunteering with the local church.

Doris is preceded in death by her son, Ronald "Cameron" in February of 2019; as well as her parents; her sister, Shirley; and younger brother, Howard. She is survived by her husband, Leon; two daughters: LeAnn (Ed) Beauchamp and Teri (Mark) Hochstedler; five grandchildren: Jessica, Karla, Lynda, Gabriela, and Cam; six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Kaylee, Sammy Alina, Dilan and Brayden; brother Edgar (Etha) Browning; and many nephews, nieces, and their extended families.
