Dorothy M. Hall's Obituary
Dorothy M. Hall, 94, passed away on December 26, 2015 at home with family in St George, Utah. Dorothy was born on April 12, 1921 in Los Angeles, California to Leon and Florence Hill. She married her lifelong partner, James Howard Hall, on June 27, 1941. They had two children, Gary Russell and Carolyn Jean (CJ) two grandchildren, Lorraine (Lorri) Marie and William (Bill) Russell, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua James and Jacob Tucker. Dorothy (Grandma Dee) and the family enjoyed many years together, laughing, reading, enjoying the outdoors, and helping each other make dreams come true.
Born and raised in the early 1920's, a part of the "greatest generation", Grandma Dee and Grandpa watched the world change before their eyes. They endured the Great Depression, World War II, Vietnam, Korean War, LA Riots and many other political environments that shaped their lives. The family loved to listen to Grandma tell stories of their life during these challenging times.Grandma always had time to read and color with the grandchildren and even more so with the great grandchildren. She loved to spend time enjoying her roses, canning, cooking, crocheting blankets for each new birth in our family and others. Fishing was one of Grandma's favorite activities. She and Grandpa passed on many fishing stories from their time living on the Colorado River and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She and Grandpa continued to fish as long as they were physically able to launch the boat. Grandma and Grandpa moved to St George in 1991 to spend time with family and enjoy watching grandchildren and great grandchildren live life to the fullest.
Although Grandma will be greatly missed, the family is grateful she is no longer suffering with Alzheimer's and is home with Heavenly Father, her mother, father and all of the family and friends waiting for her sweet soul to arrive in Heaven.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, prior to services, at 1:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary located at 288 West St. George Blvd.
