Obituary

Douglas J. Rose He swept into my life like a smiling sun, lighting up my lonely world with laughter, gaiety, humor, fun, joy and love, with teasing along the way. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and was married for 36 years and sealed to his loving wife, Rhea, in the St. George Temple. To know him is to love him. He is a man with integrity, faithfulness, a love of the Lord and obedience to those principles. I have trusted him, honored him and thanked him for sharing my life and the lives of my children, who said that he was the best step-father they could ever have. Doug passed from this earth life after a vigorous and valiant battle with prostate cancer and congestive heart failure at the age of 76. He truly endured faithfully to the end. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Dennis Lavar Rose and Alta Pearl Skillhorn on December 11, 1933. Doug worked hard at various jobs throughout his life, mostly in the sales areas. He taught his children the ethics of work to obtain those things they sought in their lives. They thank him to this day. He loved all of his families and he enjoyed his motorcycles, then he and his wife enjoyed their motor scooters, together with close friends when they moved to St. George. They enjoyed sailing, previously when they purchased a sailboat and sailed the Great Salt Lake and Bear Lake. He was married to Vauna Gunn, later divorced. He is survived by his loving wife Rhea, who was his caregiver during the remaining years of his life. He is survived by his five children, Brent Rose (Dianne), Mark Rose (Debby), Vaughn Rose (Denise), Marsha Morgan (Al) and Marlene Yates (Kevin), 2 step-children, Michael Kilfoyle (Lynda) and Carri Pettingill (Curt). He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Stephen Rose (Kathy), and his sisters, Francine Alta Glazier (Cal) and Alyce Catherine Lake (Bill), along with 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Lavar, and nephew Donald Stephen (Stevie) Rose, who was raised as a brother, after the loss of his parents at a young age, and Michelle Amanda Rose great-granddaughter. The family wishes to thank Suzanne Rooking and the Rocky Mtn. Hospice staff for their compassion and loving care of Doug, also special thanks to Dr. Robert Rignell, family doctor.
