Obituary

St. George - Ed was born on November 12, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio to Eddie and Julia Fischer and died peacefully at home on November 27, 2022. It was just 10 days after Lu, his devoted wife and forever sweetheart, entered Heaven and 8 days after what would have been their 67 th wedding anniversary.

Ed was raised in Ohio until his family moved to Glendale, California soon after World War II. He graduated from Glendale's Hoover High School and earned his AA degree in Business Administration at Glendale City College. He then joined the U.S. Army and served state side during the Korean War. Ed started his 30+ year career as a manager with Pacific Bell Telephone Company, where he met and married fellow employee, Lu Burton who would be his forever soulmate.

Ed and Lu lived in Burbank and Glendale, California until they retired in the mid-1980s and built their dream home on the Black Hill in Utah's Dixie. Ed had a second career when he drove school bus for the Washington County School District for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed hearing "Hello Mr. Ed" from former students for many years after he turned in his bus keys.

Ed loved playing golf all over St. George and very patiently tried to teach their daughter Tiffany to play. She never quite got the hang of it but enjoyed the "dad and daughter time"

On the day before his 60 th birthday, Ed became a first-time grandpa and loved spending time with his three grandsons. He introduced them to the wonderful world of Dixie College sports.

You could always catch Ed and Lu watching football, basketball, golf, tennis and their beloved Dodgers on TV. They were devoted fans and generous supporters of the Dixie State College Athletic Department for over 40 years. This is the first year they did not have season tickets for the Dixie State football, basketball games and nearly every sport. Ed and Lu were honored with the "Distinguished Athletic Alliance Member Award" for the 2011-2012 season. They always cheered for the Dixie teams and even traveled around the country, including Hawaii for tournaments many years ago.

Ed also enjoyed going to Chuck-A Rama on Thursday afternoons with his good friends and enjoying the Mexican food buffet.

He is survived by his daughter, Tiffany (Shane) Malcolm; grandsons: Matthew, Connor (Sunny), and Logan; his little sister, Diann DeMello; and beloved nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Ed. Besides his dear wife Lu, he is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Julia Fischer and son Michael Fischer.

Though the family and friends will miss Ed, everyone is comforted knowing Ed, Lu and Mike are once again healthy, happy and reunited for all eternity.

Graveside Services will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 1 p m. at the St. George City Cemetery, 600 East Tabernacle Street, St. George, Utah.
