Obituary

St. George, Utah – Edmund K. Hoff, 98, passed away April 14, 2024. He was born November 8, 1925, in Georgetown, Idaho to Edmund Charles Hoff and Eva Merlen Grunig Hoff.

Edmund attended Bryant West High School and Utah Tech. He married Thelma Merle Oberg on July 4, 1949. They were later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Thelma passed away in 1957. Edmund married Maurine J. Fawcett on August 19, 1960.

Edmund was a WWII Veteran having served in the Marine Corps in the Pacific on Iwo Jima and occupation of Japan. He was a machinist by trade.

Edmund was an active High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served as a Counselor in two Bishoprics and a Mission with his wife, Maurine in Raleigh, North Carolina from 1988-1989.

Edmund is survived by his three children: Val La Ree (Richard) Thomas of Sandy, Utah, Clyde Logan Hoff of Cottonwood, California and Merlene Peck of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three stepchildren: Robert W. Fawcett of Mesquite, Nevada, Joan Fawcett of St. George, Utah, and Brent (Charlotte) Fawcett of St. George, Utah. Edmund and Maurine together have 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the St. George City Cemetery, 650 East Tabernacle Street.
