Edward Jensen Cooley journeyed home peacefully on 4 February, 2016 surrounded by loved ones with his puppy Daisy by his side. The eldest son of Abraham Coon Cooley and Lucille Jensen Cooley, he is pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters Rachel Wood, Estelle DeMoisy, and Kathryn Anderson, his brother Clyde Cooley, son David E. Cooley and beloved wife Fae Donna Thornley Cooley. He is survived by four children, Christine C. Lopez, Janice C. Blair (David), Keith D. Cooley (Patrice) and Craig Cooley; ten grandchildren , ten great-grandchildren and many dear friends and extended family members.

Edward was born at home in Salt Lake City where his family lived until he was 12. In 1933, the family moved to Washington, D.C., where Edward attended Powell Jr. High and graduated from Central High School in 1939. After graduation, he attended the University of Utah until 1940, when he was called to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When he was released in 1942, he returned home and proudly joined the Navy, having been an active member of the Naval ROTC during high school. He studied at Duke and Georgetown Universities before serving in the Pacific until the end of the war. Upon release from active duty in 1945, he returned to the University of Utah. While going to school and working at radio station KSL, he auditioned for a part in a Church production of "The Family Upstairs". He was cast as the male lead opposite the woman who would become his eternal partner. Edward and Fae Donna were married in the Salt Lake Temple by President George Albert Smith on 19 December, 1945, two months after their first meeting. Their two daughters were born in Salt Lake, and when the Korean War broke out in 1950, Edward re-enlisted in the Navy serving in the Pacific until his release in 1952. That same year he began his 30 year career with National Cash Register. Three sons joined the family in San Diego, Los Angeles and Menlo Park, California and in 1958 while working in Salt Lake City, Edward completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Banking and Finance at The University of Utah. In 1967 he accepted a transfer to Dayton, Ohio in order to join NCR's "Electronic Data Processing" team. The family lived in Dayton for 20 years during which time Edward served in various Ward and Stake callings. He was honored to be called to serve as Bishop of the Kettering Ward while the ward building was being built, and as First Counselor in the Dayton Ohio Stake. In 1988, Edward and Fae Donna moved to St. George, Utah, the place Edward said he enjoyed living more than any place he had ever lived, the place he felt he belonged. In St. George, the now "retired" Edward discovered the joy of a hotly contested tennis match, being a voice in the choir, lighting up the Temple for Christmas, supporting the Symphony, figuring out a solution to a complex computer issue, hiking a red rock trail, reading twenty books at a time, and unraveling a family history mystery. He also loved reaching out to his ward family through home teaching and sharing his testimony, and considered his work at the Temple an honor and a privilege. He was a good man of strong faith who never lost his curiosity or his love of learning, teaching, and "being of service".
