IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Gene
England
August 18, 1937 – December 7, 2013
St. George, Utah - Edward Gene England, well-loved son, brother, and uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep at 76 years on December 7, 2013. He and his twin sister, Joan, were born on August 18, 1937 in Salt Lake City to Edward D. and Bessie Condie England. His engaging and outgoing personality earned him many friends as a student at South and Olympus High Schools.
After gradation he joined the Army and was stationed at The Presidio in San Francisco. Upon his return to civilian life, he enrolled at LDS Business College and earned a degree in draftsmanship. Thereafter, he worked for Hercules, then in the construction industry for Gibbons and Reed. Upon his retirement, he realized his dream of building a home and enjoying the "cool of the breeze and warmth of the sun" in Southern Utah. He was precise and meticulous in everything he did.He wasted nothing and left the smallest of footprints on the earths resources. He took great pride in his personal health and fitness and spent many pleasant hours walking in his neighborhood or hiking the canyons in the St. George area with family. He was creative in his personal expressions, whether it be drawing, cooking, gardening, or story-telling, and was generous with his resources and in his advice to siblings, nieces and nephews. No one ever left his company without feeling loved and accepted. He was proud of and appreciated the efforts of his Mormon pioneer ancestors and formed many meaningful relationships in his LDS Ward.
His steady, dependable influence and presence will be missed in the lives of his siblings: Joan (Barry) Sharp; LaRae (Kent) Scott; and Bob (Colleen) England. He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews who will fondly reminisce about his imaginative stories and sweet spirit.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
