Obituary

St. George – Eileen DeMille Nelson,77, passed away peacefully at home May 10, 2022, surrounded by family and friends. She was born May 3, 1945, to Ardell and Mary Jane Crofts DeMille and grew up in Rockville, UT.

At a young age, Eileen began taking piano lessons, and by the age of 12, she was playing both the piano and organ in church meetings. She had amazing musical talent and enjoyed playing the piano and organ whenever possible. Growing up the oldest of seven children, Eileen learned the value of hard work and helping her mother. She and her mom had an un-breakable bond, friendship and love between them, and Eileen visited her mom every chance she had.

In January 1966, Eileen met and fell in love with her eternal companion, Peter Nelson, while attending the College of Southern Utah (CSU) in Cedar City, UT. They were married June 9, 1967, in the St. George Temple and were able to spend almost every day since then together.  They had five children together and raised them in sunny St. George, UT filling their home with love and kindness. Eileen used her many talents and the skills she learned with her mother to create a wonderful home. She was a gentle soul, a kindhearted woman, and served as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many different callings.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband, Peter; sons: Karl (Kelli), Eric (Denise); daughters: Kathleen (Lance) Hall, Louise (Brian) Rogers, Annette (Scott) Shepherd; grandchildren: Zackary (Lindsey), Chloe (Josh), Gwendolyn (Tristan), Jorden, Clayton, Hallie, Dylan, Owen, Quinton, Elsie, Brayden, Cole, Jenna, Wesley, Emma, Jake, Tessa; and great-grandchildren: Grayson, Mason and Isla. She is also survived by her siblings: Ellen (Roy) Given, Linda Adams, Diane (Clair) Rhinehart, Marianne Stock, Dwight (Judith) DeMille, Kerry DeMille; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Linda Zenger, Victoria (Kenneth) Carlson, Sylvia (Kevin) Wilkinson, Julie Nelson, Laura (William) Prusso, Anne (Bob) Peterson and Deanna (Russ) Fullen. She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother-in-law, aunts, uncles and countless cousins.

The family wishes to thank Kristi Lasson for helping navigate and introduce us to options for eldercare. Also, Applegate Home Care and Hospice for their care and services and to Kyleen Duncan, LJ and MaryKay Benson for their compassionate care and friendship. In lieu of flowers please take time to make memories with your loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgeview Ward Chapel, 750 North 1000 West, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., and Monday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
