St. George – Elfriede R. Montes passed away July 11, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born December 18, 1930 in Augsburg, Germany.

As a child, Elfriede loved the outdoors and one of her favorite memories was walking in the woods with her grandfather picking berries and mushrooms. She had a passion for dancing and became a professional ballet dancer touring throughout Germany and was a PEZ candy girl.

Elfriede moved to Canada in 1953 where she met Argemiro "Archie" Montes. They were married August 24, 1954 in Calgary, Canada. In 1963 they moved to the United States. Elfriede worked as a bookkeeper, teacher's aide, she taught German classes and spent many years in the banking industry. She was an avid walker and for over 20 years, she walked the St George Marathon and one of her favorite places to visit and hike was Sedona, Arizona. Some of her hobbies were collecting rocks and crystals, knitting and quilting.

Elfriede is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Todd) Collins; daughter, Sarah Montes (Lantz Litchfield); grandchildren: Robert Morrill and Jenny Mullins and their spouses.

Due to covid-19, there will be no funeral services.
