St. George, Utah - Elizabeth Beth Houston Luke, 86, passed away May 5, 2014 after an extended illness. She was born July 30, 1927 in Panguitch, Utah to John Steiner and Della Prince Houston. She married Boyd Kay Luke on December 20, 1946 in the St. George LDS Temple.
Beth attended Steven Henagar Business College, Utah State University, and Dixie Junior College. She graduated from Dixie in Humanities with an Associates Degree.
Mom is an example to us all with her lifetime of service, compassion and charity. Besides serving her family, she served in various organizations both in the church and community. She is a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mom loved serving in the St. George LDS Temple. Her greatest joy was being a homemaker and raising her five children.
Beth is survived by her children: Julie (Dallin) Nielsen of St. George, Kaylene (Douglas) Keck of Orem, Boyd (Debra) Luke of St. George, Lesa (Byron) Day of Midway and Michelle (Joseph) McArthur of St. George; brother, Stanley (Georgia) Houston of Orem; sisters: Theresa (Lloyd) Graff of St. George and Virginia (James) Naegle of St. George; 26 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Kay Luke; her parents, John Steiner and Della Prince Houston; her brothers: Prince, Don and Clark Houston; grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Luke; granddaughter, Koryn Keck; and one great-grandson, Nash Featherstone.
The family would especially like to thank Dixie Home Rehab and Hospice, Spring Gardens Independent and Assisted Living for their love and compassionate acts of service.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Morningside Stake Center, 879 South River Road, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
