St George, Utah – Elizabeth Ann Peddicord Jameson, (a.k.a Queen B, GrandB, Queenie) age 89, of St. George, Utah passed away peacefully Saturday, September 23, 2023. She was born July 31, 1934, at Fort Monroe, Virginia, to U.S. Army Colonel Everett Davenport Peddicord and Margaret Eleanor Ballentine Peddicord. She graduated for Aberdeen High School and went on to complete a degree in theological studies with a minor in German at a University in London. She returned to California and attended UCLA for her teaching degree. Upon completion, she educated young minds for 42 years. Elizabeth served her LDS mission in Germany. She married Lynn Arnold Jameson in 1964 and went on to remarry Igor Ivanov (Chess Grandmaster) in 1987.
Elizabeth was a multifaceted individual who found joy and fulfillment in various hobbies and pursuits. Being a military brat, she was well-traveled and spoke fluently German and French. She was an avid bridge player which she picked up while traveling across the Atlantic Ocean three times by ship. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent countless hours studying the religion. With her mother being a concert pianist, Elizabeth was also a lover of music and had a passion for the performing arts. She had a great talent for directing plays and was always able to captivate every audience with her creative vision. She had an unwavering love for Jeopardy and rarely missed a show; she enjoyed competitive sports in her youth, especially when she won. She was a true literary enthusiast, who was always seeking to add a new title to her collection.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and grandson, Stan Wirtz. She is survived by her children: Mary (Gary) Wirtz, Wayne Jameson and Rebecca Rankin; brother, Richard; sister, Carol Tibbals; four grandchildren: Janelle, Daniel, Aerel, and Brandi; four great-grandchildren: Ellis, Karsen, Eila, and Ani; nephew, Max; and many more.
Graveside Services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S Dixie Drive, St George Utah 84770. There will be a visitation prior to the service at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W St George Blvd, St George Utah 84770 beginning at 12:00 p.m. ending at 12:30 p.m.
