Hurricane, Utah - Our most precious wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend returned home into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father, whom she loved without measure, after a long and courageous battle with cancer on November 11, 2011. Ella was born July 4, 1941 to Robert Thelmer and Thelma Lucile Mitchell Stratton in Cedar City, Utah. She grew up in Cedar on the family farm and was blessed to live near so many of her aunts, uncles and cousins. She had many wonderful friends in Cedar and that is where she met her best friend and eternal companion, Paul B Maag. They were sealed for time and eternity in the St. George LDS Temple on September 2, 1959. Ella was a very talented person. There wasnt much that she couldnt do. She sewed beautifully, was a wonderful cook and fed MANY people. She was an artist, loved crafts, shopping, canning and working just to name a few things. Ellas entire life was dedicated to the service of other people. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grandma Bear". Her biggest fear was leaving her family, but near the end she was at peace and knew her Heavenly Father needed her to come home, and she knew that her family would be OK. She had a strong testimony of the plan of salvation and trusted in her Heavenly Father. Ella was a beautiful person and she will be missed by everyone that knew her. She is survived by her husband, Paul Maag of Hurricane; her five wonderful children: Paul (Iann), Mark (Susan). Lisa (Tracey), Jason and Troy (Stephanie); her 18 grandchildren (Josh, Jeff, Brooke, Jenni, Megan, Adam, Brady, Kira, Amanda, Paige, Emilee, McKenzie, Stefani, Levi, Zachary, Matthew, Jacob and Ellie); and six great-grandchildren (Josh, Kaden, Quinn, Katelyn, Paul and Brekken); her siblings: Bob, Alvin (Jane), Laura (Don), Bert (Carol), Norma (Dwayne) and Ed (Chastie); her in-laws: Wayne (Alta), Kathy (Kim) and Helen; her aunts, uncles, cousins; and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Thelmer and Thelma Stratton; and in-laws, Harold and Velma Maag; brother, Thell; and sister, Evelyn. A special thanks to all the many friends, neighbors and ward members who helped us through this difficult time. Also, a big thanks to the amazing people at Southern Utah Hospice and the many sweet nurses, CNAs and good doctors who took such good care of her.
