St. George, Utah - Elmer Dean Wortham passed away January 6, 2014. He was born April 23, 1940 in Worland, Wyoming to Wilbur and Mary Belle Johnston Wortham. He married his highschool sweetheart, Sandra Sanderson in 1960 in Provo, Utah. Dean spent his childhood in Worland until 1950 when the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed church activities. In 1994, he was called to the Bishop of the Garland 2nd Ward in Texas. In 1998, Dean retired after 36 years of employment at J.C. Pennys and then moved to St. George, Utah. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children: Debi (Mark) Dean, Dave (Tonja) Wortham, Dan (Cindy) Wortham, DeeDee (Joe) Durrett and Dallas (Courtney) Wortham; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Clela (Joe) Roubicek, Luanna (Bob) Rowe and Wilbur (Jacqueline) Wortham. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagles Landing LDS Ward, 1095 East St. James Lane, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and on Saturday at the Chapel from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m , prior to services.
