St. George, UT - Elna Huntsman Gentry, 81, passed away on November 24, 2009. She was born in Provo, Utah on May 10, 1928. She was the baby of four children to Solon Ralph and Jetta Mariah Huntsman. She married Austin McAllister Gentry on July 16, 1946, in the St. George LDS Temple. They made their home in St. George and raised five sons. Her sweetheart Austin passed away on July 10, 1976. She then started working at the Washington County Library until she retired in May 1993. Not too long after her retirement she was diagnosed with breast cancer and won the courageous battle. Mom was a loving, caring mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, re-finishing furniture, and watching ball games. She was a cat lover and loved her cats. Most of all she enjoyed being with her family. Her family was first and foremost in her life. You will be greatly missed, for a part of us went with you the day God called you home. Elna is survived by her children: Harry (Kathy) Gentry, Doug (Donna) Gentry, Sam (Klynn) Gentry and Tim (Tammy) Gentry, all of St. George, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, with another one on the way. She is also survived by her two older sisters: Iris Starr and Lila Stratton; and her daughter-in-law, Linda Gentry. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Austin; son, Michael Gentry; her parents; and one brother, Jay Huntsman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
