Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah – Elvin Charles Jackson, 79, passed away in his home on June 19, 2024, near his wife and son-in-law. He was born August 29, 1944, in Fremont, Utah, on the kitchen table.  Elvin married Linda Marie Nielson on June 5, 1970 in the Manti Utah Temple.  They had four children; Jessi, Tonja, Joshua, and Melinda.  They were later divorced.  He later married his beloved wife, Pauline Loucille Stewart, on May 5, 1985, in the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah.

Elvin was raised in different parts of Wayne County and spent most of his childhood trailing, fishing, hunting, and doing other outdoor activities. Both his parents were strong members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and raised him as such. All his life, he remained a faithful member of the church, so much so, that his wife lovingly referred to him as God's little buddy. In 1965, he served a mission for the church in American Samoa. In 1968, he was drafted into the United States Army and served until 1970, when he was honorably discharged after serving admirably as a platoon Sergeant in the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, he lived all over Utah, mostly in Fremont, and finally spent his remaining years in Santa Clara, Utah. His profession was teaching industrial arts in high school. Many of his favorite past times were fishing, hunting, building his home, and traveling with his wife and children, eating bologna sandwiches all over North America. In his later years, he cruised many times and was able to see many different parts of the world, including Europe, South America, the South Pacific, and Antarctica.

He is survived by his wife; Pauline, his children; Jessi, Tonja, Joshua, Melinda, Phoenix, and Sherice, four sons-in-law; Wade, Adam, Chad, and Steven, 17 grandchildren, three sisters, and one brother. Elvin is preceded in death by his two sons; Dustin and David, parents; Perry and Shirley Jackson, brothers; Denton, Vernon and Jerry Jackson, and sister; Faun Volz.

A special thank you to the members of the Santa Clara Heights 18th Ward and to Metcalf Mortuary for all their service, compassion, and prayers for the family.
