St. George, Utah - Emma S Bennett Donaldson, age 87, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 of causes incident to age. She was born April 29, 1924 to Joseph Bennett and Hettie Stevens in Delta, Millard County, Utah. She attended Holden Elementary School and Millard High School. She also attended Brigham Young University. She served in the Western Canadian Mission from 1946-1948 where she initially met Karl Maeser Donaldson, Jr. also serving a mission. She married Karl on February 28,1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. Some places of employment included Utah State Tax Commission, BYU Book Bindery, Millard County Recorder and Clerks office, and Union Pacific Railroad Stockyard. But her most important and best loved role was that of homemaker and mother. Her Church service included working in the LDS Sunday School, YWMIA, Primary Stake Presidency and teaching in Relief Society. She loved family history and temple work. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, horseback riding, singing, playing piano, clarinet, harmonica and she loved the beauties of nature. Emma is survived by four children: Evan of St. George, UT, Linda (Ronald) Blackham of Exeter, CA, Val of Redwood City, CA, Karma (David) Bell of Wanship, UT, daughter-in-law, Lenore Donaldson of Casa Grande, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters: Elaine Hendrickson of Richfield, UT, Dorothy Robison of Salt Lake City, UT; and brother, Ralph (Carol) Bennett of Washington, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Kenley, brother Garr and sister Agnes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. George LDS 9th Ward Chapel, 550 East 700 South, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery.
