Obituary

Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sibling, Friend

"If roses grow in Heaven, Lord please pick a bunch for me. And give them to my loved ones and tell them they're from me."

Enid Eileen Reinert Hower was born on May 9, 1946, in Allentown, PA. She passed away on December 26, 2023, in St. George, UT. Enid was the daughter of Lawrence and Grace Reinert of Walnutport. She married Clarence "Bud" Hower, Jr. on April 16, 1966.

Enid earned her associate degree from Northampton Area Community College. She was employed by the Northampton Area School District, working as the attendance secretary while her own children were in school. She was adored by staff and students alike. Enid then worked as a secretary for AT&T/Agere Systems for many years before retiring as a service coordinator at Coca-Cola Bottling of the Lehigh Valley.

Enid was a kind and generous person who lived her life to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren. Although quiet by nature, she would always accept an invitation for an adventure if a grandchild asked. Enid was often nervous to try something new but put on a brave face to not miss out on time with her family.

Enid enjoyed gardening and had a beautiful flower garden no matter where she lived. She loved feeding the birds and attracting hummingbirds to her garden. Enid was interested in genealogy and spent countless hours researching ancestry and creating books to share with family and friends. She was an excellent baker and happily shared family recipes with her children and grandchildren. Although Enid said she wasn't an "animal person," she could often be found with one of her cats, Phoebe or Smokey, on her lap.

Enid was an active member of her Lutheran churches in Pennsylvania and Utah and enjoyed running craft fairs for church fundraisers.

Enid is survived by her husband, Clarence "Bud" Hower; and her children: Christopher of Lehighton, Michael (Aileen) of York, and Kimberly (William) Prayner of Wasilla, AK. She had five grandchildren: Alexander and Nicholas Prayner and Liam, River, and Mea Hower. She is also survived by her sister, Madeline Smith; and her brothers: Eric and David Reinert. Enid was predeceased by her parents, her sister Carole, and her brother Jeffrey.

Enid, in her quiet, unassuming manner, requested no memorial service. Her family plans to host a celebration of life service in the spring. We ask that you plant a flower in your own garden in Enid's memory.
