Erma Woodbury Stott, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Larry Lawrence, in Clovis, California.

Erma was born on April 27, 1927, in St. George, Utah, to David O. Woodbury and Laura Snow Woodbury. She grew up in St. George alongside her sister, Virginia, and brother, Merrill. A dedicated and gifted student, Erma was valedictorian of her high school class.

While attending Dixie College, Erma met the love of her life, Gerald "Gerry" Stott, in Spanish class. They were married for time and all eternity in the St. George Temple on January 16, 1947, beginning a devoted partnership grounded in faith, education, and family.

Erma earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona while faithfully supporting her husband's career and raising their six children. As Gerry's education and professional work progressed, the family lived in Logan, Utah; Madison, Wisconsin; Athens, Georgia; Mesa, Arizona; and Tucson, Arizona. After Gerry's retirement, they lived on a small ranch outside of Letha, Idaho, near their daughter Merry and their son Kevin and both of their families. In 1993 they returned to St. George where Erma spent the next 27 years living near her daughter Rochelle and eventually her son Dale and both of their families. Old St. George friendships were also renewed and cherished.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Erma served in many callings throughout her life, including Temple Baptistry Coordinator, member of the Stake Relief Society Presidency, and numerous positions in the Young

Women organization. She and Gerry also served a mission together in Manchester, England, an experience that was deeply meaningful to them.

Erma was a talented seamstress who lovingly made dresses for her daughters, an excellent cook known for baking bread weekly, and was especially remembered for crocheting dish scrubbers from scratchy netting—small handmade gifts that reflected her practicality, creativity, and generosity.

For the final 5½ years of her life, Erma lived with Laurel and Larry Lawrence in Clovis, California, where she was surrounded by love and compassionate care.

Erma is survived by her children: David Stott (Cheryl), Laurel Lawrence (Larry), Merry Pearce (Monty), daughter-in-law Laraine Stott, Rochelle Braten (Clark), and Dale Stott (Kristina); as well as 35 grandchildren, more than 100 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Gerald Stott; her son, Kevin Stott; and her granddaughter, Harmony Pearce Wadsworth; her grandson, Joshua Stott; and her great- grandsons, Malik Stott-Miller and Cassidy Seemann.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior at 10:30 a.m., at the St. James LDS Chapel, 1095 East St. James Lane, St. George, Utah. Interment will follow in the St. George City Cemetery located at 650 East Tabernacle Street.

Erma will be remembered for her unwavering faith, lifelong service, devotion to family, and the quiet, steady influence she had on generations.
