IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ethel Robinson
Bayles
February 29, 1924 – November 22, 2013
St. George, Utah - Ethel Robinson Bayles, age 89, died November 22, 2013 in St. George, Utah. She was born February 29, 1924 in Paragonah, Utah to Evangeline Applegate and Claudius Loraine Robinson. She married her sweetheart, Frank Bentley Bayles, on March 6, 1943 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were sealed for eternity on April 14, 2001 in the St. George LDS Temple. Ethel graduated from Parowan High School and LDS seminary in 1942. She married Frank just before he left for action in World War II. She worked during the war making parachutes in Manti, UT and later as a dispatcher at the Engineer Redistribution Center in Tooele, UT. She noted that she never spent a penny of Frank's army pay until he returned home. She was a happy wife and mother in Parowan, UT. All four of her children were born in nearby Cedar City. In 1960, they moved to Ely, Nevada. She worked there at J. C. Penney and then as a medical insurance clerk at the hospital for twenty four years. Frank and Ethel retired to St. George, Utah in 1987 where they loved to travel and camp in their RV.
Ethel was a hard worker, frugal, and an extremely good manager. She was very competitive and loved beating her family and anyone else at card games. She was proud of her family and delighted in telling stories about them. She served in many callings in the LDS Relief Society and was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She loved to serve and spend time with her special friends in St. George.
Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank and two grandsons. She is survived by her children: Wesley J. of LaVerkin, UT, Drex R. (Rosalee) of Phoenix, AZ, Frank Michael (Melanie) of Bartlesville, OK, and Debra Lynn (Luke) Martin of Sacramento, CA; a sister, June Robinson of Salem, OR; five grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
