Obituary

Hurricane, Utah - Fay LeRoy (Jake) Jacobson, age 91, died February 8, 2013 at home in Hurricane, Utah. He was born August 13, 1921 in Randolph Utah to Achel and Merry Christmas Jacobson. He married Barbara Pead May 27, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Jake grew up in Randolph with his 3 brothers, Mynard, Kib and Bill. He enlisted in the Marine Corps with his brother Kib at the beginning of WWII. They were both sent to the South Pacific Arena where Kib gave his life. He and his wife lived most of their life in Springville, Utah where they raised their children. He worked at BYU until he retired in 1983. He loved BYU sports and held many positions in the LDS Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and wood carving. He received a thank you letter from President Thomas S. Monson for the canary he carved at age 90 and sent to him. He is survived by his wife: Barbara; children: Richard and Judy Jacobson of Magna, Utah, Bryan and Debbie Jacobson of Hurricane, Steve and Debbie (Jacobson) Elms of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Neil and Denise Jacobson of Cedar City, Utah, 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with be Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 2:00 at the Hurricane LDS 12 th ward Chapel, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday, prior to services, at 12:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment will be held Friday, February 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1977 South 400 East, Springville, Utah.

The family wishes to thank the healthcare professionals, emergency personnel and neighbors who provided compassionate care to our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
