Obituary

St. George, Utah – Galyne A. Olsen, 67, passed away peacefully in her home on September 18, 2025. She was born on April 24, 1958, in Murray, UT, to Elden Allen and Verna Winter. She married her best friend and the love of her life, Gary L. Olsen, on February 22, 1986, and they shared a loving marriage until his passing nearly two years ago.

Together, Galyne and Gary raised a son, Douglas L. Olsen, with whom she shared a special bond. Galyne was very proud of Doug and his family: Jessie (daughter-in-law), Emeree (granddaughter), Hunter (grandson), and Easton (grandson). She devoted her life to them and found her greatest joy in being a mother and grandmother.

Through Gary, Galyne also welcomed three sons and a daughter - Todd, Terry, Ryan, and Connie—and made a point to build meaningful relationships with them, a labor of love she embraced wholeheartedly.

Galyne will always be remembered and admired for her fun-loving, authentic, and sassy personality. She celebrated the little moments in life, whether it was a playful phone call to her grandkids with a silly tease or song, or pausing to appreciate the beauty of a sunrise or sunset.

She had many talents and interests: baking her famous sugar cookies, creating a warm home, gardening, crafting with the kids, singing along with her record player, golfing, or enjoying a cup of tea. She poured love into holidays and gatherings, always making them special. She especially cherished her time with her grandchildren, supporting their goals and celebrating their achievements.

A lover of the outdoors, Galyne spent countless weekends camping, fishing, hunting, and exploring the backroads. The mountains called to her throughout her life, and in recent years she found a new passion for the beach. She and Gary moved often, making friends and memories wherever they lived. Outgoing and sociable, she enjoyed connecting with people—whether through school, work, or neighbors—and treasured the many lifelong friendships she made.

Her professional life included cabinetry, real estate, and working at a golf course, all of which she enjoyed. And if you really knew Galyne, you knew her mornings weren't complete without a 6-mile walk. Alongside her beloved cats, she stayed strong and fit, finding peace in those daily routines.

In recent years, after caring for Gary for many years, Galyne worked hard to build a beautiful life for herself. We were proud to see her cultivating new passions, relationships, and routines—she was proud of herself, too.

She leaves behind a deep void and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

She is survived by her children: Doug (Jessie) Olsen of St. George, UT; Ryan (Kari) Olsen of West Valley City, UT; Terry (Jessie) Olsen of Payette, ID; Todd (Francis) Olsen of Payette, ID; and Connie (Rusty) Losee of St. George, UT. Additionally she was the proud grandmother to: Hayden (Randynn), Carter (Sammy), McKay, Addison, Tanner, Avery, Jenna, Lexi, Mandi, Riley, Prince, Tanya, Lisa, Jeremy, and Tiffani; and 14 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Olsen; her parents, Elden and Verna; her brothers, Bryan Allen and Don Allen; and her brother-in-law, Chad Olsen.

We will continue to honor her legacy by remembering how she touched every life she came into contact with and keeping her memory alive in our daily conversations and activities. You didn't meet Galyne and forget her. She will be in our hearts always.

On the morning of her passing, Galyne posted what would be her final goodbye, though she didn't know it: a picture of a breathtaking sunrise with the caption, "Goooood morning all of you. Here is the most beautiful sunrise this morning. I can see angel wings in the sky."

Her words are bittersweet as we celebrate and honor a life lived in the moment—loving, genuine, and kind. We will never look at the sky again without thinking of her. Each sunrise and sunset will be a gentle reminder that she is with us always.

Fly high, sweet Galyne. You are a beautiful angel now, reunited with your love again. Gone too soon - may you rest in peace.

A Celebration of Life will he held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden, 1731 South Convention Center Drive, St. George, Utah.
