Washington, UT - Gary Russell Arbuckle, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend to all, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2009, after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer. Gary was born on February 16, 1940 to wonderful parents, Gilbert and Mary Arbuckle in North Hollywood, California. He graduated from San Jose State College in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. He married the love of his life, Jean Fitzgerald, for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They were married on March 26, 1966. They have two children, Lori and Gary, Jr. He served his country from 1963-1969 in the Air National Guard. He served active duty at Kessler Air Force Base, Mississippi from 1963-1964, specializing in radio communication. He served in the active reserves from 1964-1969. Gary had a successful career with Allstate Insurance Company from 1966-1993 as an Agency Manager in Woodland Hills, CA. After retiring, they moved to Washington, Utah in 1995 where he enjoyed golf, travel and being active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years, Gary served in many callings, but usually served with the youth. He last served as bishop of the Green Springs Ward. Gary had a warm big smile, firm hand shake and booming laugh. He found good in all people and accepted everyone for who they were. He never took offense, was quick to forgive and found humor in all situations. His life personified the 13th Article of Faith which states We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul - We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything, virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. He told Jean several months ago it was time for him to go home because, The Lord needed a good P.R. man right now, and thats me. He is survived by his eternal companion and true love, Jean; their children: Lori Arbuckle of Portland, OR., and Gary (Amy) Arbuckle of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Tyler, Jared, Kate and Will Arbuckle; his brother, Edward (Loene) Arbuckle of St. George, UT; uncle, Harold (Gloria) Nielsen of Draper, UT; nieces, nephews and many cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Buena Vista LDS Stake Center, 860 N. Fairway Dr., Washington, UT. A visitation will be held Friday, from 5-7 p.m., at Pine View Mortuary, 566 N. Mall Dr., and Saturday, from 10-10:45 a.m., at the Stake Center, prior to services.
