Obituary

Gary Taylor Moore, age 88, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on April 30, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, Gary was the son of Cecil and Vondora Moore. He lived a life defined by hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering love for his children

Gary was first married to Marcella Klotz, and together they were blessed with nine children: Sue (Brad) Davis, Judy (Robb) Cundick, Dan Moore, Jim (Tami) Moore, Rob (Paige) Moore, Nancy (Hal) Evans, Sally (Troy) Leavitt, Sam (Kendra) Moore, and Amy (John) Stewart.

Later, Gary married Martha Ibarra and together they welcomed three additional children: Gary (Julie) Moore, Leslie (Karl) Torgerson, and Stephanie (Ryan) Fast. Though Gary and Martha later divorced, all twelve children have remained connected with a strong family bond.

Nothing brought Gary greater joy than being a father. His greatest legacy is the family he built—twelve children who learned from his example the importance of hard work, dedication, and always doing their best.

Gary often reminded his children, “Just do your best.” Those simple words became a guiding principle for his family. Whether in school, sports, music, work, or everyday life, he encouraged each child to strive for personal excellence rather than comparison.

Gary celebrated being grandfather and great-grandfather. He treasured any opportunity to spend time with his growing posterity and found great joy in watching his family continue to grow.

He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Sobotka, and his brother, Lynn Moore.

Gary will be remembered for his strength, his perseverance, his high expectations, and his steadfast belief that hard work pays off. More than anything, he will be remembered as a father whose greatest accomplishment was the family he loved so deeply. His influence will continue to be felt in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing prior at 9:00 a.m., at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Interment will follow at the Enterprise City Cemetery, Enterprise, Utah.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Southgate Senior Living for the kindness, care, and love they showed Gary during the final chapter of his life. Their support brought comfort not only to Gary but to his entire family.
