Obituary

Enterprise, Utah - Gayle Wells Evans, our dear father, passed away September 11, 2024, in Enterprise, Utah, at the home of Mark and Tamie Evans. He was born May 25, 1932, to Junior and Katie Wells Evans in Lehi, Utah. He married Lola Jean Wagstaff on December 27, 1951, in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of 6 children, 29 grandchildren, 91 great-grandchildren, and more on the way.

Gayle grew up in Lehi, Utah, and was a small town boy at heart. Later, he attended Utah State University where he met his sweetheart Lola, joined the ROTC, and fulfilled his tour of duty as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. He and Lola raised their family in Park City, where he managed the Spring Creek Angus ranch. After 28 years they moved to Enterprise, Utah, which was a welcomed relief for him and his beloved pure-bred Beefmaster cattle, as Park City had become more populated. The cattle operation provided a way of life for his children and opportunities to gather his ever growing family and create lasting memories.

Gayle was a generous, kind, gentle and loving man, and to his children and grandchildren, the Greatest Of All Time. He loved his family and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With the loving support of his sweetheart, he served faithfully in many ward and stake callings, serving as Bishop and for nearly 40 years, with Lola as his scribe, he served as a Stake Patriarch.

Gayle loved and was an avid supporter of the Beefmaster breed, starting his own herd in 1953. He served as President of the Foundation Beefmaster Association, where he developed life-long friendships throughout the United States, and, also participated in the Utah Cattlemen's Association.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife Lola, and is survived by his sister Melodie Brimhall, and his children: Susanne (Milo) Lefler of Midvale, Utah, Donald R. (Linda) of Central, Utah, Mark G. (Tamie) of Enterprise, Utah, Christine (Mark) Briggs of Bountiful, Utah, Scott G. (Robin) of Wellsville, Utah, and Margie (Jonathan) Smith of Murray, Utah.

The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, on 80 South Center Street, Enterprise, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 17, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, and prior to services on Wednesday, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center.
