IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gayle Kay
Jorgensen
February 23, 1942 – October 10, 2023
Hurricane, Utah - Gayle Kay Jorgensen slipped peacefully from this life into the next, surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer in St. George, Utah, on the afternoon of October 10, 2023. She was 81 years old.
Gayle was born on February 23, 1942, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Parley Lyon Hymas and Wilda Lucille Williams. She grew up working in her parent's grocery store in Seattle, Washington. She had an ongoing love of animals. She was two years old when she received her first puppy, and rarely has she been without a dog.
She married Richard Kaukani and was blessed with a daughter, Shari. They later divorced. Gayle then met and married Don Hamilton. They were blessed with a son, Troy. Don succumbed to ALS in March 1984. In September of 1986, Gayle married Jerry Navarre. They later divorced. In December 2018, Gayle found love again and married John C. Jorgensen. They cherished each day they spent together with her two dogs.
Gayle's life was a tapestry of diverse experiences. She owned health food stores in both Washington and Hawaii, spreading her passion for healthy living. In addition, she later spent time working for Mesa Public Schools.
Her musical talents in piano and organ were a source of joy for herself and everyone who knew her. She had many callings as a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints member, but her favorite calling was the ward choir director. Over her life, she had a music calling in every ward organization. She was currently serving as the primary pianist and loved hearing the children sing.
Gayle leaves a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her husband, John Jorgensen; her loving children: Shari Charboneau and Troy Navarre; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her brother, Brent (Pat) Hymas.
A funeral service to honor Gayle's life will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located at 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, UT 84737. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
