St. George –
Genelle Lees 94, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 23, 1925 in Moroni, Utah to Blaine Draper and Fayora Draper. She married her sweetheart, Robert Lees on August 9, 1945. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.
Genelle was raised in Moroni, Utah on her parents' farm. She graduated from Moroni High School in 1942. She worked in Salt Lake City for two years before moving to California where you she worked for the government. While in California, she met her sweetheart, Bob Lees. Bob was in the Navy and while they were on their honeymoon, the war ended. With the war over, they moved to Compton, California where their three children, Roberta, Bill, and Larry were born. In 1957, the family moved to Lakewood. Eventually they retired and moved to St. George, Utah in 1995.
Genelle was very active in her church where she held many callings of leadership and teaching. She was an excellent pianist and shared that talent in her church and at community activities. She especially enjoyed working in the Temple, which had always been a lifetime goal for her.
However, her last calling was the one she excelled at beyond measure. That was being a grandma. Her greatest joy came from her 15 grandkids and 32 great grandkids. She loved attending and being involved in their many activities.
Genelle is survived by her sweetheart, her three children, and an ever growing posterity.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington City Cemetery, 111 North 100 East, Washington, Utah.
