St. George, Utah – Our loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother Genial "Geanie" Lucille Bills Hamp, passed away at her home in St. George, Utah on February 18, 2023, after a long and valiant battle with cancer.
She was born March 9, 1944, to Merland S. and Lucille C. Bills at the L.D.S. Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Geanie loved the beautiful mountains of Southern Utah and made her home in St. George for over thirty years.
She was a member of the L. D. S. Church where she held many callings, but here favorite was the leader of the music in the Primary. She loved working with the little children.
Geanie loved to sing, and had her own Country Band. This is where she met Gerry Hamp, the true love of her life. On November 29, 1975 they were married in Magna, UT and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple.
She was a licensed Real Estate Agent and later became a Mortgage Broker where she was able to be the owner of her own company. She specialized in working with young buyers on refinances and new sales where she found joy in finding homes for growing families.
Geanie loved to travel with her husband and friends on many enjoyable adventures including twelve cruises; the Panama Canal being one of her favorites.
Geanie will be remembered for the love and help she showed to everyone she came in contact with. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and two brothers: Clifford and Verland Bills. Survived by her beloved husband Gerry Hamp of 47 years; her son, Steve Schelle; and daughter, Cindy Erickson (Gregg); her brother, Leon Bills (Lorraine); three grandchildren and spouses: Ashley Nebeker (Brad), Jason Hainey (Jamie), and Nathan Anderson-Erickson (Alec); four great-grandchildren: Kodie Nebeker, Rowan Nebeker, Jax Hainey and Cole Hainey and (one on the way.)
The family would like to thank all the Medical Staff of Intermountain Hospital, Dixie Home Rehab & Hospice and all who loved and cared for Geanie during this difficult journey.
There will be a visitation Tuesday ,February 21, 2023, from 6pm-8pm at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11am at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 1007 South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah, there will be a visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT following services.
