Obituary

St. George, UT - George Yam Fong Aiona passed away Wednesday, February 03, 2010 at the age of 92 in St. George, Utah. George was born April 06, 1917 to George Yam Fong and Lucy Chong Aiona in Honolulu, HI. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Eloise. Growing up in the islands, George embodied the true spirit of 'Aloha.' He spent his life in service of and a great love for others. His famous saying, 'You can't take it with you' was his personal code as there never was a more generous man with his time and means. His infectious smile, contagious laugh, and sharp sense of humor put any stranger at ease and would instantly become a friend. His hobbies included free diving for sea shells, making jewelry, athletics, fishing, and music. He was a champion cribbage player and a master chef. With a smile, he described himself a 'Jack of all Trades.' Though George and Thelma have no children, he leaves behind a legacy of many children and adults who call him 'Grandpa' or 'Uncle' George. Aloha George, and Mahalo! Graveside services will be held for George in Kaneohe, HW where he will rest next to his beloved wife, Thelma. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
