St. George, Utah-George William Ringwood, 88, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2015 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 30, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Stephen Ringwood and Thelma Breeze. George married Colleen Ballinger on July 24, 1948 and they were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on April 25, 1963. After the death of his loving wife in 2011 he married Helen Baker Howard on April 13, 2013. George served in the US Navy for 24 years and protected our country during three wars. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, he joined the U. S. Postal Service. George and Colleen moved to St. George, Utah in 1984 to enjoy retired life. Some of George's favorite hobbies were golfing, playing card games, yard sales, spending time at the Bryce canyon property, eating out and enjoying family and friend's company. George had such a great sense of humor and witty personality, always making new friends and had a big love for life. George is survived by his wife, Helen, her extended family, and his four children, Steven, Cregg (Jeannie), Keven (Lorrie) and Tammy (Rob) Riley. Also he has 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kay White and brother-in-laws Dell Ballinger and Tom White. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Colleen. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St, George, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to service on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 a. m. at Metcalf. Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery located at 200 North St. in SLC, Utah.
