Obituary

St. George, Utah – George Elic Wainner, was called home on February 25, 2022. George lived his life with a servant's heart. He served his country, his family, his church & his community.

He passed peacefully at home, surrounded in love by his adoring wife of 64 years, Wilma Wainner, his three children, Scheri, Michael & Gina, many of his grand & great-grandchildren & his three siblings, Anne, Sue & Donnie.

He was born December 25, 1934, in Bay City, Texas, to George D. and Bernice Catchings Wainner. George served his country in the Korean War, then proudly served his community as a Policeman in Midland, Texas. After becoming a new father, he took a job for Santa Fe Railroad in Barstow, California, for 18 years. Before moving to Saint George in 2004, Wilma & George spent 19 beautiful years in Jackson Hole, Wy. Lastly, George spent his golden years serving his faith as a proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

George served his large family as their faithful Patriarch, a source of immense pride & joy with the addition of each new great-grandchild. His greatest treasure in life was his three children, 23 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. His greatest accomplishment in life was being sealed to his bride for all time and eternity.

George lived life to the very fullest for 87 years. His humor & wit brought joy. His faithfulness brought comfort. His stories will stay in the hearts of all he bestowed his saged wisdom upon. George was a constant for many & will be deeply missed by all he served.
