Glade, a cherished son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, at the age of 79.
Born on January 3, 1947, in Rexburg, Idaho, Glade was raised in a loving family of nine children. Growing up in Idaho, he was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and carried a deep devotion to his faith throughout his life. After graduating from Sugar Salem High School in Idaho he faithfully served a mission in the Southwest British Mission. There he strengthened his testimony and gained experiences that shaped the course of his life. He then attended BYU and attained a bachelors degree in the arts. Over the years, he served in many church callings and found great joy in serving others.
On May 31, 1975, Glade married the love of his life, Suzanne Muir, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. Their marriage of 51 years was marked by unwavering devotion as they raised their three sons—Joseph, Geoffrey, and Stephen—and welcomed nine beloved grandchildren into their family.
Glade and Suzanne started their family in Iona, Idaho then made their way to Las Vegas, Nevada where they raised their children and remained close to their growing family. Throughout his career, Glade held various management positions and later served Clark County as a marriage commissioner and deputy clerk. Following retirement, he and Suzanne moved to Santa Clara, Utah.
Glade’s life was defined by his kindness, service, and enduring love for his family & friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Covington; his sons, Joseph Covington (Shallan), Geoffrey Covington (Rebecca), and Stephen Covington (Wendy); his beloved grandchildren, Haley, Tyler, Alex, Caitlin, Mia, Abby, Cole, Stephanie, and Chloe; and his siblings, Troy Covington, Sherry Arnold, Pam Remer, Janean Smith, and Debbie Lockner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lila and Joseph Covington; and his siblings, LaRene Covington, Lorayne Freeman, and Donnie Covington.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, located at 288 W. St. George Blvd. in St. George, Utah 84770.
An additional visitation will take place at the chapel on Saturday prior to the service, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Clara LDS 7th Ward Chapel, located at 3815 Rachel Drive in Santa Clara, Utah.Interment will follow at the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
