Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah – Glade Verdel Curtis, 82, passed away April 26, 2022. He was born October 6, 1939, in Salina, Utah to Harold and Mary Hunt Curtis. He married Irene Mellor November 20, 1959, in the Manti Temple.

Glade was raised in Aurora, Utah. He attended North Sevier High School. His first job in Salt Lake City was at Dunford Bakery which began his career in baking. He owned two bakeries: Curtell's Bakery in Salt Lake City with Jay Terrell and Curtis Bakery in St. George. He took a correspondence class from Chicago Baking School and graduated with honors.

He liked to travel and enjoyed Europe and cruises. He enjoyed the outdoors and like to camp, taking his sons, one at a time, along for the adventure on his motorcycle. This was a memorable time for all of them.

Glade was very sentimental and willing to help everyone, including his children Mark, Gary, Tony, and Lee.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Curtis; sons: Mark (Pam), Gary (Leah), and Lee (Darlene); 12 grandchildren; brothers: Ronald Curtis and Alan Curtis; and sisters: Joanna Frisby, Valene Hagan, Sharron Court, Carol Slack and MaryLee Dalley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mary Curtis; his brothers: Neal Curtis and LaMoine Curtis; his son, Tony Curtis; and granddaughter, Cammie Curtis.

A visitation will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.

Graveside services for family will be held in the Santa Clara City Cemetery, 1950 Ancestor Way, Santa Clara, Utah.
