Leeds, Utah - Glenn Ray Beal, aged 86, died April 26, 2023. He was born in Cedar City, Utah on October 17, 1937, to David Glenn Beal and Wilma Cox Beal. He married Verlynn Button in Silver Reef, Utah on April 18, 1959.
Everyone who knew him called him Ray rather than Glenn. He was raised in Silver Reef, Utah and lived there until he married. He and his bride, Verlynn, moved to Leeds, Utah where they lived until his passing. He was a member of the United States Army where he received a good conduct medal, and sharpshooter Rifle M-1. He was given an honorable discharge. Ray was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Bishop for five years, which was a labor of love. He worked for the Utah Department of Transportation for thirty-five years.
Ray is survived by his wife, Verlynn Beal of Leeds, Utah; children: Lori Beal Brandt of Cedar City, Utah, Brenda Beal Hall (Karl) of Leeds, Utah, Nicole Beal Taylor of St. George, and Kevin Grant Beal (Ashley) of Sunrise, Arizona; fifteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Alex Beal (Jean); sister, Wilma (Billie) and Wilma's husband Royal. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Brent Ray Beal.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Leeds Chapel, 75 North Main Street, Leeds, Utah. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to services, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Leeds Cemetery.
