Obituary

St. George, Utah - Glenwood Blayne Humphries, 28, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2014. He was born July 18, 1986 in St. George, Utah to Danton Blayne Humphries and Tresa Rae Condie. He was the younger of two children. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Glen grew-up in Hurricane, Utah, where he attended and graduated from Hurricane High School. He was an outstanding athlete and excelled at all sports, especially baseball, football and track and field. He held the Hurricane Little League home run record for many years, and in high school he could throw a Major League fastball. In football, his physique was as big as his personality and he dominated on both the offense and defense. In track and field, Glen held the state record for the softball throw and competed at the national finals in Hershey, PA two years in a row. When Glen wasn't playing sports he enjoyed fishing, camping, and most of all spending time with his family. Glen is survived by his parents, Danton Humphries of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tresa Condie of Washington, Utah; his sister, Brooklyn (Michael) Hortin of Las Vegas, Nevada; his maternal grandparents, Victor and Vicky Condie of St. George, Utah and Val Rae Chamberlain of Washington, Utah; his paternal grandparents, Glenwood and Diana Humphries of Hurricane, Utah. He is also survived by a niece and nephew who loved and adored him, along with other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving uncle, Tony Glen Humphries. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coral Canyon LDS 1st Ward Chapel, 1950 North Coral Canyon Blvd., Washington, Utah. A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to the services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
