St. George, UT " Gloria H. Deru, age 89, passed away in her sleep the morning of January 23, 2014 in her St. George residence. She was born August 17, 1924 in San Francisco, CA to Sam and Hazel Hansen . She married Peter Quillinan in 1943, and together they had four children : Mark, Ann, John, and Lee. Peter passed away in 1955. Nine years later, Gloria married John Deru, father of five children: Jim, Steven, Linae, Tennessee, and Mark (Rusty). Together, John and Gloria had one son, Michael.

Gloria was a dedicated member of the St. George Catholic Church and was involved in many different charities. Gloria was a very loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by eight children, twenty-four grandchildren, and twenty-four great grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow, at the St. George Catholic Church, 259 West 200 North, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Monday, prior to the services, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m,. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd.,St. George, Utah.
