Obituary

St. George, Utah – Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, Gloria Jane White Davis, of St. George, Utah, passed away peacefully in the St. George Regional Hospital, on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She peacefully returned to our Father in Heaven following a beautiful prayer, tearfully spoken by her devoted husband, while surrounded by her loving family.

Gloria was born on December 9, 1944 in Los Angeles, California, and was the second of three children born to Orin and Inez Rees White. She was married and sealed to her husband, Lynn Davis, in the South Jordan, Utah temple.

Gloria was raised in Utah, spending her first 10 years in a small town called Loa, in Wayne County, and later moved to Salt Lake City where she attended Olympus High School. Her favorite school interests included home economics and sewing. She sewed everything from dresses and clothing for herself, to suits for young boys and often earned money from this passion. Because of her kind and friendly nature she had many friends. Recently, one of her lifelong friends, saddened by her passing said "Gloria was just a delight".

Gloria always loved a good adventure. From snow skiing, water skiing, camping, fishing, exploring and traveling the world with friends and family, she can be seen in hundreds of family photos creating memories and living life to its fullest. She always told Lynn that her life didn't really begin to blossom until she met him at age 34. From that age on, she and Lynn set their sights on creating family memories and building a life filled with adventures together.

Gloria was a wonderful example of being a dutiful wife, loving mother and faithful friend. At her core, the attributes of love, faith, and service were evident every day of her life.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she embraced the Gospel of Jesus Christ and gave freely of her time and talents. A remarkable lady, and a true example of womanhood, Gloria was often called upon to share her love and enthusiasm for the Gospel in leadership roles to the sisters in the Young Women's and Relief Society organizations. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and earned the admiration and love of all who knew her. She and Lynn took their example of discipleship to the next level as they served as missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mozambique, Africa from 2007-2008 and upon returning home, continued their example of service as ordinance workers in the St. George, Utah temple for four years from 2009-2013.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Lynn Davis; her sister, Patricia (Steve, deceased) Thomas; her sister-in-law, Joan (Edward, deceased) White; and children: Charles (Cindy, deceased) Pierson, Steven Pierson, Matthew (Amber) Davis, Steven (Lisa) Davis, Kristen (Shane) Siddoway, Brent (Jill) Davis, James (Amber) Davis. She has 29 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; brother, Edward "Ed" Orin White; and brother-in-law, Steve Thomas.
