He was born July 11, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa to Raymond Marion Shearer and Evelyn Sybil Cook Shearer. He was raised in Omaha, Nebraska with his younger sister Virginia and brother Jerry, both of whom he loved very much. Gordon served in the 82nd Airborne unit in Georgia during the Korean War jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. After his military service, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1958 where he met and married his loving wife Geraldine Douglas on May 25, 1958. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity. Gordon and Geraldine lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Cedar City, Utah and then Hurricane, Utah. Gordon worked in the Forest Service and also at the Pipe Spring National Monument. He had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed walking, hiking, camping, yard sales, reading books, classic movies, antiques and his grandchildren. He had a deep love for music and played the Banjo, Guitar and Dulcimer. Most of all he enjoyed sharing these things with his wife Geraldine and children: Douglas (Deb) Shearer of LaVerkin, Roseanne (David) Empey of Idaho, Brian ( Lucy) Shearer of Enoch, Amberly Gibson Shearer of Hurricane, Jesse Shearer of Enoch, David (LeAnn) Shearer of Arizona and 19 grandchildren.
