IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gregory Robert
Terrill
November 6, 1966 – July 2, 2022
**See Spanish version below.
St. George, Utah – Gregory Robert Terrill was born on November 1966 in Riverside, California, the third son of Robert and Patricia Terrill. He joined a family which grew to eleven children, Monica, Art, Jeff, Patty, Greg, Diana, Becca, Jennifer, Debbie, Chris and Katie. He was raised in Southern California. He loved growing up in a large family, and in later years told friends that he had grown up in Mayberry, USA. After graduation from high school, he went to work for his father until his mission call to the Mexico Guadalajara Mission. Here he gained his love of missionary work, Mexico and of its people.
He was a wonderful missionary. His mission president told him, "Elder Terrill, I knew you would lead the mission, I just didn't know which way you would lead my mission." Greg excelled as a missionary, though, and served in many leadership positions. Blessed with the gift of tongues, he maintained and increased his Spanish vocabulary the remainder of his life, continuing to study the scriptures in Spanish. On his mission he gained a companion who became a lifelong friend and 'brother' to him, Isaac Cruz.
Shortly after completing his mission, he married Colleen Linnemeyer in the Los Angeles Temple, although the marriage later ended in divorce. To that marriage, five children were born, whom he dearly loved: Jessica, Warner, Andrew, Garrett, and Dallin. Greg also loved and fostered his nephew, David Terrill, and many others.
He graduated from UTI in Arizona and worked for a number of years in Southern California and in Colorado. While in Colorado, he had the blessing of serving as a temple worker. He worked as a heating and air-conditioning contractor there, creating a prosperous business which he relinquished to return to St. George and help his ailing father with his business.
For over ten years he suffered the results of an injury received during surgery before it was surgically corrected. He also suffered from a work-related back injury which caused years of suffering and resulted in an overdependence on pain meds which led to some challenges and struggles. His strong belief in the Savior, and in His atoning and enabling grace helped Greg recover and become a stronger and better man than he had ever been before. Suffering also with severe depression, he was able to overcome it as well, with the help of the Savior. He became an optimist even in the midst of his worst trials and turned to serving others. He also was blessed to feel complete forgiveness of others and would not take offence. He worked to repair offences that he had given. His healing through the Savior's love enabled him to become the best that he had ever been. We are eternally grateful for his great spirit and attitude which became one of overwhelmingly love and service.
Two years ago, he met a wonderful woman online, and after a year of friendship, he married Vanessa Ramos Barrera on 14 May 2021 in Jesús María, Aguascalientes, Mexico. He inherited another son, Nefi, whom he loved when he married Vanessa. The cancellations/clearances of their previous sealings were granted several days before his death, although they had not yet been received. He and Vanessa will be sealed for time and eternity in the Cedar City Temple on August 2, 2022.
Greg loved to teach the gospel with the missionaries and loved to cook and have them to dinner often in Arizona and in Mexico.
His son, Warner, said that even at the peril of his life, and no matter in what state his dad might find himself, he knew that his father would never deny his faith in Jesus Christ.
Greg's sister, Diana, wrote the following of him: "I loved Greg's testimony, his spiritual sensitivity, his sense of humor, his love of sacred and holy things, his love of family, but especially his love of Jesus Christ. He had a testimony of the Savior's atonement, of Joseph Smith, and of the restoration of the gospel. He rejoiced when he was able to use the power of the priesthood to bless family members. He knew the Book of Mormon was true and often quoted passages and related them to his day-to-day experiences. He loved the power the Book of Mormon brought into his life. He also cherished the experiences we shared as a family as we were raised with family scripture study. He tried to share that testimony of the scriptures and of his faith with his children."
At his death he had never been happier and had said many times that he was grateful that he was right with the Lord, and that he was blessed with such an uplifting and inspiring wife.
Greg is survived by his wife, Vanessa, his children, Jessica, Warner, Garrett and Dallin, his stepson, Nefi, his mother, Patricia, and his siblings, Monica, Jeffrey, Patricia, Diana, Rebecca, Jennifer, Deborah, Christopher, and Katherine. He was predeceased in death by his father Robert, his son Andrew, and his brother, Arthur.
As a family, we are grateful for Greg's life and for the things that he taught us. His sister, Jennifer, said of him, "I stand in awe of his strength, testimony and determination in becoming a new man."
Last of all, his sister, Becca quoted this scripture which reminded her of him:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
God be with you 'til we meet again, Greg.

"He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado mi carrera, he guardado la fe". 2 Timoteo 4:7
