Obituary

Hurricane, Utah - Harlan Jerome Cooper, 75, fought a courageous battle with cancer, exiting this world on his terms, Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Cooper was born in Osh Kosh, WI. August 5th, 1938 to Nora Girard and Harlan Chebar Cooper.

He enlisted into the United States Air Force on August 5, 1955 and was sworn in on his 17th birthday, serving 22 years. Served 3 tours of duty in Vietnam, flew several missions as navigator and a technician on the B52. He received several medals during his tenure, retiring as a Technical Sergeant in 1976. Worked for Sperry Univac as a Senior Technician in the Quality Assurance Test Department, retiring after 20 years.

Cooper was a great provider for his children. He shared his love of the outdoors by discussing art, photography, history, nature, and wildlife, along with telling wonderful stories full of adventures, humor and always with just the right touch of embellishment. He was very thoughtful, unselfish, a chief and center of the family. He was looked to for wisdom and advice, and a hero to all. His legacy lives on in the many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that he has. We love him dearly, and he will be truly missed.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family asks that you honor Cooper by visiting your local State or National Park or to make a donation to the Intermountain Dixie Regional Medical Center. Special thanks to the medical staff at the Huntsman Cancer Center and Medical Center for the professional care they gave Cooper.
